Why We’re Obsessed with Tutu’s Pantry (and You Will Be Too)
If you’ve ever wished you could bottle up the flavors of Maui and bring them home —
we’ve found the place. Tucked inside Rainbow Mall in Kihei (right under Café O’Lei), Tutu’s Pantry feels like exactly what it sounds like: walking into grandma’s kitchen, only this one’s stocked floor-to-ceiling with jams, salts, sauces, and body care — all lovingly made right here on Maui and our sister islands.
Tutu’s Pantry was founded in 2009 by Ellie Salazar, who wanted to recreate the cozy magic of her own grandma’s pantry — a place filled with comforting, handmade treasures. From that nostalgic vision came a full-fledged store dedicated to showcasing local, small-batch products made with aloha.
And we mean local: everything here is made in Hawaiʻi. Many of the goodies are made upcountry on Maui using fresh island fruit, Hawaiian sea salt, and zero preservatives. We’re talking lilikoi butters, guava jams, Maui lavender seasonings, Hawaiian chili pepper sauces, and so much more. They also carry a beautiful selection of local body products that smell like heaven and make perfect gifts — or little self-care moments for yourself.
But the best part? The samples. You’re encouraged to taste, smell, and explore — and somehow always end up leaving with three new favorites you didn’t know you needed. Our personal favorites? The “Mactella”, Hawaiian Chili Pepper Water by Kauai Juice Co, Artful Scents Bergamot + Jasmine Candle, Tropique Perfume Oil by Bootzie and the 3 C’s Rub. And yet whatever you choose, you can’t go wrong. Tutu’s is a full sensory experience and genuinely feels like a love letter to and from Maui.
Whether you’re shopping for family, co-workers, your Airbnb host, or just want to uplevel your kitchen game, Tutu’s Pantry is a must. It’s thoughtful, delicious, and completely Maui-made. You’ll leave with more than just gifts — you’ll leave with that warm feeling that someone’s taken care of you. Just like Tutu would.
