Some people you're just supposed to meet. It takes the universe a couple of tries sometimes, but eventually, it gets you there.
The first time I crossed paths with Stephanie, I didn't even know her name. It was my second day back living on Maui, and I walked right past her at the Harmonic Egg in Kīhei, where she was setting up for a noni leaf class. Something about her stopped me — I was so interested — but I had somewhere to be and had to blast. I didn't get her name. I didn't get a card. I just kept walking.
About a year and a half later, I walked into Hawaiian Moons and sprayed my face with a Whispering Dragonfly Royal Treatment Mist sitting on the shelf. And I want to tell you something, because I don't say this lightly — I have a skincare line of my own. Stephanie invited me into her home, and we talked story for hours. I could have stayed so much longer just listening — to her wisdom, to her time spent with her kahuna on the island of Kauaʻi, to how she came to carry forth the medicine of the noni leaf as her kuleana, her sacred responsibility.
Whispering Dragonfly is Stephanie's life's work, and it shows in every single bottle. She is a licensed massage therapist, an NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) practitioner, and the keeper of a noni leaf protocol passed down to her directly by her kahuna while living with him in a heiau on Kauaʻi. Noni was one of twelve canoe plants carried to the Hawaiian Islands by the first Polynesian voyagers — alongside kalo, ʻulu, kukui, and niu. It is the only one of the twelve brought specifically for medicinal purposes. Traditional uses span an extraordinary range: postpartum care, anti-inflammatory relief, arthritis, digestive support, wound healing, eczema and psoriasis, sprains, and even yoni health.
