Kymberly Marr: From $40 to a Dream-Come-True Maui Cosmetic Line

When I met Kymberly Marr at our Maui Makai Anniversary Party, she walked straight up to me with cheer and confidence. I felt instantly magnetized to her energy. You can feel her aliveness and I am personally drawn to people who feel alive.
Some people land on Maui with a plan. Kymberly, recently divorced, landed with just $40, her CJ-7 Jeep, and a dream she hadn’t even discovered yet — only the call of her soul to this island.
Growing up in a small town in Kansas and later moving to Sausalito, California, life eventually carried her across the Pacific. She hadn’t even traveled to Maui before moving here, and didn’t know anybody, but something about the island pulled her in. At first, she worked on boats and in creative environments: theatre and galleries — figuring things out one day at a time. Then, with a little persistence and a lot of faith, she stumbled into what would become her lifelong passion: makeup.
The Brave Spark
A friend took Kymberly under her wing and showed her the ropes of wedding makeup artistry. What began as helping out quickly turned into a calling. Soon after, she landed at Cos Bar at The Shops at Wailea, selling luxury makeup and skincare while learning everything she could about high-quality beauty products.
She spent 16 years there, refining her craft, connecting with clients, and becoming known for her light, joyful spirit and professional mastery. At the same time, she built her reputation as a freelance makeup artist, doing bridal makeup, commercial shoots, and campaigns for brands like Olukai and Spectrum.

Launching Her Own Line
In 2020, during covid shutdown, Kymberly pivoted and invested her stimulus check, launching her very own vegan, cruelty-free, and clean beauty line: Kymberly Marr Cosmetics. Her products are multipurpose, island-inspired, and infused with ethics and values. Every detail carries intention — from the colors in her eye Haleakalā shadow palette inspired by the volcano’s sunrises and sunsets to the formulas designed to give you that effortless “island glow.”
Today, her line is carried in some of Hawaii’s best spas and stockists, a reflection of her persistence, her artistry, and the trust she’s built in the community.
